The story of how my business started.

Founded in 1991, DJ Express has provided entertainment at over 800 events across Ohio.

How it began

I started this business 35 years ago, after working 8 years as a DJ at the biggest bar in Athens, Ohio University.

I decided that I was ready to do more than just play music. I also wanted to be an event coordinator. Within 6 years, I had 6 DJs working events from Marietta to Columbus.

A move to Kent

In 1997, I moved the business and myself to Kent when I was hired as a firefighter/paramedic by the fire department.

Now, 29 years later, I can honestly tell people that I have had the best two jobs in the world. My full-time job is as a firefighter (now retired), and on the weekends, I get to meet great people, help them, and keep them entertained as a host, coordinator, MC, and DJ.

Priding myself on the constant recommendations of brides and grooms from all over Ohio, I strive to make your wedding reception a perfect ending to your most important day.

I work with your photographer, videographer, caterer, and hall staff to make sure we are all on the same page, so that your evening is stress-free. There are many little things at a reception that get overlooked; it is my job to make sure they get handled.

With over 900 wedding receptions under my belt, I have the experience to provide the special touches that will make your reception one your guests will not forget.

Let DJ Express entertain your guests at your next event. I provide state-of-the-art equipment for crisp, clean sound and include $2,000 worth of dance-floor lighting free of charge with any package.

With thousands of songs to choose from and the ability to download almost anywhere, I will keep your guests dancing all night long.

The serious part

I know other Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and Cleveland DJ companies charge a considerable amount for their services. I have always kept my costs down so that I can provide the best service at the best price.

I am a one-DJ company and the owner. There are no extra people to pay. I own all of my equipment and backup equipment, with no rental fees, and I charge no extra or hidden fees for setup, teardown, cordless microphones, and more.

My most purchased package is $700 for a 5-hour wedding reception. The only possible extra charge is travel more than 45 miles one way to your event. To secure your day, I need a signed contract and a $150 deposit.
